Members:
Cooky Chua (vocals)
Barbi Cristi (rhythm guitars)
Bopip Paraguya (Bass/back-up vocals)
Sam Salazar (keyboards/back-up vocals)
Ariel Policarpio (Lead Guitars)
Jayvee Torres (drums)

The Filipino alternative pop/rock band Color It Red formed in 1989 after three schoolmates were inspired by a teen film. Originally consisting of Cooky Chua (vocals), Barbi Cristi (rhythm guitar), and Maricar Florendo (keyboards), Color It Red eventually added Mike Villegas (lead guitar), Hank Palenzuela (bass), and Edison Javellano (drums) to the lineup. Taking their name from a crossword puzzle, Color It Red became a fixture at colleges and universities.

In December 1989, Color It Red performed at the RJ Pinoy Woodstock concert after winning a talent contest. During their early days, Color It Red covered classics by the Doors, the Pretenders, and U2. In the early '90s, the group's numerous appearances at the acclaimed Club Dredd, renowned for exposing adventurous Pinoy rock artists, carved a significant fan base.

In 1994, Javellano departed from the band, initially replaced by drummer Jet Brosas. Brosas didn't last and percussionist Minco Fabreagas took his place. Villegas left Color It Red for Rizal Underground, and G.P. Evaristo of Sonic City Zoo became the group's lead guitarist. Palenzuela also split from the band, so Color It Red hired punk bassist Bobip Paraguya of Discant X. Color It Red's debut album, Hand Painted Sky, was released in 1994 by Alpha Records; it went platinum. In 1995, Color It Red was voted Best New Artist at the Awit Awards, the Philippines' version of the Grammys. Since then, Color It Red has established themselves as one of the Philippines' most popular and critically praised alternative acts.

Kulay

YEARS ACTIVE: 1991 – 2000

GROUP ROSTER: BOOM DAYUPAY, JEANNIE OAKMAN, RADHA CUADRADO, ANGEL JONES* (Angel replaced Jeannie after the latter died in 1997 because of an epileptic seizure)
90’S HITS: DELICIOUS, BURN, SHOUT
Kulay formed in 1991. Boom Dayupay (born Lino) returned that year to the Philippines from Canada, where he had worked the club scene in Vancouver as a DJ. Joining Dayupay was girlfriend/singer Jeannie Oakman. The two formed Kulay, which means "color" in Tagalog, the Philippines' national language. An audition brought local female vocalist Radha Cuadrado.
Kulay signed to OctoArts/EMI, a joint venture between local label OctoArts and EMI, and released their debut album, 100,000 Pesos Worth of Karma, in 1995. Dayupay composed and arranged nearly all the material (there was a cover of George Gershwin's "Summertime"), and also produced the album, a process followed in all of Kulay's releases.

Flavour of da Moment was released in 1996, and though a fine outing, containing heavier doses of rap and funk, it lacked the overall charm and energy of the first album. It also did not sell well, according to the label (there are no album charts or SoundScan in the Philippines).
Kulay then signed with Sony Music Entertainment Philippines (SMEP) and was placed on the Dance Pool label, operated out of Sony's European regional office in the United Kingdom. In August of 1997, Kulay released Vibestation, again encompassing many rhythm & blues styles, but this time emphasizing funk. Vibestation is an outstanding effort, and sets the standard for hip-hop in the Philippines.

Sadly, however, founding member/singer Jeannie Oakman passed away in September of 1997 after an epileptic seizure. Kulay nearly disbanded, but then recruited female vocalist Angel Jones, an American of Philippine ancestry.
Also in September of 1997, an album track, "Delicious," was issued as a radio single in the United Kingdom, and the new Kulay lineup toured the U.K., Germany, and Italy. Kulay's self-directed video for "Delicious" was a nominee for the 1998 MTV Asian Viewers' Choice Award. Despite these international accolades, sales at home for Vibestation failed to match expectations, and the album hadn't reached gold (which is 20,000 units sold) after nearly two years on the market.

Dayupay founded Vibestation Records, signing several fledging rap and hip-hop acts (Kulay remains signed to SMEP). In July of 1998, Vibestation Records inked a distribution deal with BMG Records Philippines. Kulay also began hosting and producing a weekly television program, Vibestation TV.
In 1999, "Burn," another track off Vibestation, was released in the United Kingdom and several other European territories as a commercial single and in the U.S. as a promo single, and featured remixes by top European DJs Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, and Judge Jules. Both "Delicious" and "Burn" and their respective remixes were released in the Philippines in 1999 as Kulay Remixes. Planned releases in the United States and the United Kingdom for Vibestation, however, did not materialize.

Kulay released its second album for Sony Music Entertainment Philippines, Chapter What?, on November 19, 1999. Unlike Vibestation, however, the album was not placed under the Dance Pool label, and the album did not receive an international push. In 2000, female singer Radha Cuadrado left the group. Instead of recruiting a new member, Kulay disbanded, leaving behind a legacy of the best hip-hop the Philippines had known.

Parokya ni Edgar

YEARS ACTIVE: 1993 – PRESENT
Members: CHITO MIRANDA, VINCI MONTANER, BUHAWI MENESES, DARIUS SEMANA, GAB CHEE KEE, DINDIN MORENO
90’S HITS: BULOY, TRIP, MANIWALA KA SANA, LUTONG BAHAY, SILVERTOES,
HARANA, PANGARAP, PICHA PIE, INUMAN NA, HALAGA

Parokya ni Edgar (English: Edgar's Parish) is a multi-award winning Filipino band formed in 1993. The band is famous for its original rock novelty songs and often satirical covers of popular songs both foreign and local. The band is adept at playing in various musical genres.

Parokya ni Edgar has been referred to by local media as "Pambansang Banda ng Pilipinas" (The National Band of the Philippines).
Despite having "Edgar" in the band's name, none of the members are named Edgar.

Originally named Comic Relief, the band's initial members were a group of high school students composed of vocalists Chito Miranda, Jeric Estaco, and Vinci Montaner, along with guitarists Mikko Yap and Gab Chee Kee, all hailing from Ateneo de Manila University. They were regulars in after-school jam sessions, before performing an opening number for an Eraserheads concert. This served as their break in the music industry and prompted them to add a drummer and bassist – schoolmate Dindin Moreno and Buwi Meneses, respectively. Around the same time they changed the band's name to Parokya ni Edgar. After high school, Mikko and Jeric withdrew from the band to pursue other interests. Soon after, the remaining band members invited their friend Darius Semaña to take the role of lead guitar.

The band name's origin has been a long time subject of disputes and debate from fans and audience a like as the band members has been evasive when it comes to the said topic since the group's inception, but not until 2013 when Chito Miranda officially posted the subject matter and confirmed it in their Facebook page. The name "Parokya Ni Edgar" actually came from a joke by a classmate named Bambi Cuna during one of their high school classes. Sources state that the class subject was Filipino. When the teacher asked Cuna where Jose Rizal's fictional hero, Crisostomo Ibarra (in the novel Noli Me Tangere), was educated, it was said that Cuna answered with the daft remark "sa Parokya ni Edgar". For some reason, former vocalist Jeric Estaco then decided to declare "Parokya ni Edgar" as their band name during an introduction on one of their first live performances in an impromptu manner and got stuck by it ever since.

Current members
Chito Miranda – lead vocals (1993–present)
Buwi Meneses – bass guitar (1993–present)
Darius Semaña – lead guitar (1993–present)
Gab Chee Kee – rhythm guitar, vocals (1993-present)
    Dindin Moreno – drums (1993–present)

Former members
Vinci Montaner – backup vocals, occasional percussion, monologue, live comic relief (1993–2012) Montaner briefly reunited with the band in 2013 in a one night only appearance during the launching date of PNE's 13th album "Bente".

No other pop band comes close to Aegis when it comes to establishing that certain hook with audiences. From north to south, east to west, all over the Philippines and possibly, beyond, Aegis music connects with the largest number of audiences.
There is a feeling of oneness with Aegis among those who are touched by Aegis' songs. With all their high notes, bravura performances and tons of sentiments. Aegis' songs click because they pierce right into our hearts, awakening the Filipino innate sense of melodrama, drawing both empathy and sympathy. Making them a true expression of the Filipino spirit.
History
Aegis has released seven albums over its career that have consistently made the Gold and Platinum marks beginning with Halik, Mahal na Mahal Kita, Awit at Pag-Ibig, Paskong-Pasko and Ating Balikan. They also released a mind-boggling remix collection of Aegis' hits entitled Ating Sayawin. The band is also responsible for hits such as "Luha" and "Halik." Clearly, this is one band that has survived the rigors of the Philippine music industry with flying colors.

Since they started in 2000, this band which is actually made up of siblings had strong support from Filipino masses who quickly identified with them and the sound they created. One would not mistake an Aegis song. The band effectively brands a song through their guitar riffs and the belting voices of the vocalists.

The phenomenal success of Aegis band can be attributed to two factors- their genuine talent and the strong recall of their songs.Almost everyone in your neighborhood, be it young or old, I bet is familiar with songs like Halik or Luha. The earthshaking voices of Aegis' lead vocalists are just too mighty not to be noticed in a pop-rock arena.
The Aegis audiences are always mesmerized by the incredible lung-power of sisters Juliet and Mercy Sunot. The two have been with the group since they started originally as AG's Soundtrippers (the letters A and G being their manager's initials). They later changed into Aegis in 1998 as agreed upon by the band manager & Alpha Records. Apart from the two sisters, keyboardist Stella Galindo is also the sister of the band's manager Lito. While his (Lito's) wife, Josie, is Rey's sister. This 'connection' perhaps explains why their relationship has never been shaken despite the intrigues and politics in showbiz.
